DIGITAL CONFERENCE SYSTEM CENTRAL UNIT

Item No.: LCS-2231BS
Description Connection Diagram Specifications FAQs
SPON™ LCS-2231BS Central Unit is the main component of SPON™ LCS-2231 Multifunctional Digital Conference System, its main purposes include:
1) provide interfaces for connecting microphone units (SPON™ LCS-2231BSc Chairman Unit & SPON™ LCS-2231BSd Delegate Unit) and peripheral equipments.
2) supply DC 9V power to all connected microphone units (SPON™ LCS-2231BSc Chairman Unit & SPON™ LCS-2231BSd Delegate Unit).
3) manage and control the whole digital conference system.

TFT 4.3" True Color LCD screen and touch buttons on its front panel are used for basic configurations (such as microphone management, discussion mode, input/output volume, etc.) of the conference system. Besides, the user can install our unique conference management software on PC/laptop and use this intuitive software for both basic configurations and advanced operations (such as conference preparation, participant information registration, electronic sign in/voting/election, etc.) of the conference system. Configuration changes made at the software will be automatically synchronized to the central unit, and vice versa.

» PLUG-AND-PLAY FUNCTIONALITY

The plug-and-play functionality of the central unit allows microphone units and PTZ cameras to be conveniently connected to or removed from the system as required, ensuring quick installation and effectively shortening the reconfiguration time.

» MICROPHONE MANAGEMENT

The maximum number of microphone units that can be activated at the same time by pressing the speak button on the microphone units (LCS-2231BSc/LCS-2231BSd) can be limited via the "MNOM - Maximum Number of Open Microphones" settings on the central unit, the MNOM can be set to 1-6 units or "N" units (meaning all microphones can be activated simultaneously).

» MULTIPLE DISCUSSION MODES AVAILABLE

One of the following discussion modes can be selected via the "conference" settings on the central unit:
FIFO (First In First Out): Participants can override each other by pressing the speak button on their microphone units, when MNOM (Maximum Number of Open Microphones) is reached, the next participant that presses his/her speak button will automatically deactivate the microphone unit that has been activated for the longest time.
LIMIT: MNOM (Maximum Number of Open Microphones) can be preset to 1-6 units, once MNOM (Maximum Number of Open Microphones) is reached, any other participant won't be able to activate his/her microphone unit unless an already activated microphone unit has been deactivated and there's vacancy again.
FREE: MNOM (Maximum Number of Open Microphones) will be set to "N" units by default in this mode, there's no limit to the number of simultaneously activated microphone units, any participants can choose to activate their microphone units by pressing the speak button on their microphone units.
C. ONLY (Chairman Only): MNOM (Maximum Number of Open Microphones) will be set to "N" units by default in this mode, only the chairman units can be activated, all delegate units cannot be activated.
LIFO (Last In First Out): Participants can override each other by pressing the speak button on their microphone units, when MNOM (Maximum Number of Open Microphones) is reached, the next participant that presses his/her speak button will automatically deactivate the microphone unit that has been activated for the shortest time.
U. SINGLE (Vies To Answer First): MNOM (Maximum Number of Open Microphones) will be set to 1 unit by default in this mode, only 1 microphone unit is allowed to be activated at the same time, but participants can override each other by pressing the speak button on their microphone units, the next participant that presses his/her speak button will automatically deactivate the already activated microphone unit.

» REAL-TIME VIDEO TRACKING

After connecting PTZ camera to the RS485 serial interface of the central unit, you can either locally configure (via the LCD screen and touch buttons on the front panel of the central unit) or use the conference management software to configure the PTZ camera settings for real-time video tracking. Maximum 4 PTZ cameras can be connected to one single central unit, and up to 255 preset locations can be allocated to the connected microphone units of each central unit.

The central unit supports three mainstream PTZ camera control protocols: Pelco_D/Pelco_P/VISCA. Once the allocations of PTZ camera preset locations are completed, you can either locally adjust (via the LCD screen and touch buttons on the front panel of the central unit) or use the conference management software to adjust each preset location that you've just set up, pan (left/right), tilt (up/down) and zoom in/out of each preset location can be easily done on the central unit or via the software.

When all the camera setups has been completed, during conference discussions, once a microphone unit has been activated by a participant, the connected PTZ camera will automatically track the corresponding preset location of this participant, and the image of this participant will then be transmitted to the display screen or projector in the conference system.

» SYNCHRONIZED CONFERENCE MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE

After installing conference management software on your PC/laptop and connect your PC/laptop to the DB9 RS232 control interface of the central unit, you can start using this intuitive software for both basic configuration and advanced operations of the conference system. Configuration changes made at the software will be automatically synchronized to the central unit, and vice versa.

A variety of configurations and operations can be achieved by this intuitive software, mainly including:

1) Basic Configurations (all these basic configurations can be set locally on the central unit as well):
● Settings of discussion mode (FIFO/LIMIT/FREE/C. ONLY/LIFO/U. SINGLE).
● Settings of MNOM (Maximum Number of Open Microphones).
● Settings of "Allowed to speak when voting" or "Not allowed to speak when voting".
● Settings of teleconferencing "ON" or "OFF".
● Settings of input/output volume.
● Allocations of PTZ camera preset locations (maximum 255 preset locations).
● Associations of microphone unit and PTZ camera preset locations.
● Settings of PTZ camera control protocol (Pelco_D/Pelco_P/VISCA).
● Settings of PTZ camera preset locations: pan (left/right), tilt (up/down) and zoom in/out.
● Resetting of all PTZ camera preset locations.

2) Advanced Operations (all these advanced operations can only be done on the conference management software):
● Allocations of microphone unit ID number.
● Manual registration of participant information (i.e. each participant's name, gender, company, position, etc.).
● Initiation of conference electronic sign in.
● Initiation of conference electronic voting.
● Initiation of conference electronic election.
● Display of all conference electronic sign in/voting/election results.

» ELECTRONIC SIGN IN

There's a "Sign In" button on each microphone unit.

At the beginning of the conference, you can use the conference management software to initiate electronic sign in of all participants. The participants can then press the "Sign In" button on their microphone units to sign in for the conference, all the sign in information will be stored and displayed on the software.

» ELECTRONIC VOTING

There're three vote buttons on each microphone unit - "Approve", "Against" and "Abstain".

If needed, a voting can be initiated on the conference management software during the conference. You can choose the time limit of the voting, and there're two kinds of optional voting modes: "The first press is valid" or "The last press is valid".

When the voting has been initiated, all participants can choose to press one of the three vote buttons ("Approve", "Against" or "Abstain") on their microphone unit, and when the voting is ended, all the voting information will be stored and displayed on the software.

» ELECTRONIC ELECTION

Apart from the basic "Speak Button" and "Priority Button", there're five other buttons on each microphone unit: "Approve", "Against", "Abstain", "\" and "Sign In".

The election procedure is very similar to the voting procedure. You can choose the time limit of the election, and there're two kinds of optional election modes: "The first press is valid" or "The last press is valid".

Once the election has been initiated on the conference management software, the five buttons ("Approve", "Against", "Abstain", "\" and "Sign In") will be corresponding to ①-⑤ candidate of this election, the participants can then choose to press certain button on their microphone units to vote for certain candidate. When the election is ended, all the election information will be stored and displayed on the software.
